The world is celebrating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women today, November 25, 2014 just a day before the celebration of Thanksgiving. The date was chosen by the United Nations as it marks the date of the death of Mirabal sisters. It is said that these sisters were political activists that live in Dominican Republic. These days, many activists are putting their lives at risk as they want violence against girls and women be stopped. These girls and women in the whole wide world experience sexual or physical abuse in their entire life. Every country, region, and place has its own story of gender based abuse.
